✦ Synopsis

A subregion connection method is de¨eloped for the FDTD method to analyze compound conducting structures. The transmission and reflection characteristics of wa¨eguide components and the radiation of a wa¨eguide aperture antenna are taken as numerical examples to show the practical applications of this method. The method has the ad¨antages of reducing the computational domain, sa¨ing running time and setting up the FDTD grid flexibility.

## Abstract Subgridding algorithms in the finite‐difference time‐domain (FDTD) method are applicable and efficient in handling problems containing fine structural features. Only regions surrounding the fine features need to be discretized with a finer spatial grid to avoid finely discretizing the w

## Abstract We introduce a new, alternative form of the 3‐D alternating direction implicit finite‐difference time‐domain (ADI‐FDTD) algorithm that has a number of attractive properties for electromagnetic simulation. We obtain a leapfrog form of the time‐advance equations, where the E and H fields

This paper deals with absorbing boundary conditions for the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method applied to homogeneous lossless waveguide structures. A theoretical formulation of the so-called 'modal absorption' (MA) is developed. On the basis of this theory different implementations availab

The nonreciprocal phenomena of a gyrotropic thin-film waveguide with a grating configuration have been analyzed by the singular perturbation technique with multiple space scales. The analyzed structure can perform both as a grating coupler and an isolator. With low gyrotropy, the beam deflection is
