✦ Synopsis

The performance of vacuum tube power oscillators is determined by tests made at 60 cycles.

The low-frequency potentials are applied to the plate and grid electrodes from the 6o-cycle power mains through suitable transformers, Wattmeters placed in the circuits indicate the magnitudes of the plate and grid power losses. The wave forms of and the phase angle between the alternating plate and grid voltages are determined from 6o-cycle measurements.

Radiofrequency measurements with the same tubes show close agreement with the results of the 6o-cycle tests.

A new method of presenting the results is also given in which the operating characteristics of the vacuum tube are shown as contours on the e,-e, plane.
