โœฆ Synopsis

The analysis of progesterone in blood and tissues is at best a tedious process. If many samples must be analyzed at one time, the difficulty increases enormously. By taking advantage of recent developments in thin-layer chromatography (TLC) (l), we have developed a method for the analysis of progesterone in whole blood and tissues which is rapid, sensitive, reliable, and adapted for the routine analyses of between 10 t,o 40 samples at one time.

The method combines the isolation of pure progesterone (as demonstrated by radiochemical technique) with quantitation based on the formation of progesterone-3,20-bisdinitrophenplhydrazone (prog-DNPH ) and consists of the following steps: 'Fellow,

The extensive use of methadone for the treatment of opiate addiction increases significantly the need for quantitative determination of methadone in urine and tissues. Existing spectrophotometric methods are limited in sensitivity by the low molar absorptivity of this compound (E = 554 in 0.1 N HCl,

A simple and sensitive assay and a cellular bioimaging method for nitric oxide (NO) were developed using a novel diaminofluorescein DAF-FM and its diacetate. DAF-FM is converted via an NO-specific mechanism to an intensely fluorescent triazole derivative. For the measurement of NO, the triazole deri
