✦ Synopsis
A simple and rapid colorimetric method for separate quantitative analysis of KDO and 3,6-DDH in mixtures has been described. The method is based on periodate-TBA reaction with deoxy sugars before and after reduction with sodium borohydride.
The absorbance of the color material was found to be a linear function of the deoxy sugar concentration. The procedure described permits quantitation of KDO and 3,6-DDH in amounts of 1-20 and 0.1-3 /zg, respectively. Standard deviations in ten analyses of the mixture were 0.23 and 0.18 /zg for 10/zg KDO and 2 ~zg 3,6-DDH, respectively.
