In
this paper we give a procedure for estimating the reliability of a structural system when failure data on either the structure, its components, or on both are available. We lint deveiop procedures for structures whose components are assumed to operate inde~nden~y of each other. We then prove that the reliabiity estimates thus obtained provide meaningful inequalities for the reliability of the structure when its components are dependent in a specified manner.
