✦ Synopsis
It often happens that an efficient algorithm can be designed by considering some special properties of the problem. In this short paper we describe a problem in twin zygosity determination that involves a convolution of probability distributions. Our solution to this problem was to develop an algorithm for counting in the base-3 or "ternary" number system.
