✦ Synopsis
The construction, operation, and performance characteristics of a membrane-covered photobacterium probe are described.
Using Photobacteriumfischeri (strain MJ-I) and polypropylene or silicone-rubber membranes this device responds equally rapidly (r,,2 < 8 s) in gas or liquid phases. Linear photoemission occurs as a function of oxygen concentration over the range 8.4 pM to 35 nM Oz.
