✦ Synopsis
The purpose of this paper is to summarize and to elaborate on several recent results obtained by Babuska, Oden and Lee (l-5) on the accuracy and convergence of certain types of hybrid finite element methods, and to show how these results can be used to design acceptable hybrid elements for second-and fourth-order boundary-value problems.
