## Abstract Proposed changes to the mental health care system are usually debated in terms of either health benefits or costs savings. However, because of the extensive intersection between the mental health system and the criminal justice system, changes in the organization and financing of mental

Abstract
Based on one year of services utilization data in Santa Clara County, we modeled the mental health service system as a timeβcontinuous Markov process with corresponding Kolmogorov differential equations. The dynamics of the system's operations in that year can be expressed by the results derived from the intensity matrix and the explicit solution of Kolmogorov differential equations. The key problem with the system is linked to its emergency service. An unexpectedly high proportion of patients had a certain period in which they did not receive any services. Most of patients desired more intensive services. Some tentative thoughts about the stabilization of the system are discussed.

The major objective of this study was to identify predictors of the duration of homeless spells among persons with severe mental illness (SMI). This was the first study to incorporate time-varying covariates into the survival analysis model predicting the length of homeless spells. The sample consis
## Abstract Women with severe and persistent mental illness (SMI) face formidable challenges as parents. While many raise their children to adulthood, others struggle considerably in the parenting role. In cases where there is child protective service involvement, an assessment may be requested to
