✦ Synopsis

Reinforced mosaic door and window frames are developed as an alternative to wooden frames in local workshops in order to be used mainly in housing in the Eastern Black Sea region. These frames have been applied increasingly by the regional people in their houses. This paper deals with the production, application, details and failures of reinforced mosaic frames. In this connection it aims to set an example for other developing countries by pointing out a way of decreasing the material losses recurring during the life-span of buildings.
