The unique features of liquid drops and their value for analytical systems are illustrated through a series of novel liquid drop-based systems: windowless optical cells, micro liquid handling vessels, renewable gas samplers, and simple sample introduction interfaces. Drops are of particular value in solving problems in biphasic systems because of their truly renewable surfaces.
