โฆ Synopsis
AT THE moment there is great pressure on space in Chemical Engineering Science. We are limited to 2200 pages a year in the present format, and 2000 pages a year in the format to be adopted in 1974; the amount of material submitted considerably exceeds this. While this situation persists, the Editors have decided to adopt the following policies.
Apart from high quality, the primary criterion is that papers should be of interest to, and likely to be read by, chemical engineers.
Papers in pure fluid mechanics are not in general acceptable, although occasional review articles summarising progress in various fields may be.
Papers listing new data are not acceptable unless the data are accompanied by new theory or methods.
Applied mathematics is only acceptable if clearly and primarily applied to chemical engineering. Investigations of chemical reactions are not acceptable if purely descriptive; only if accompanied by scientific insight into the reaction or mathematical modelling.
The scope of the journal has become increasingly theoretical in recent years. Potential authors are invited to read the Aims and Scope of the journal (inside back cover), and to consider submitting papers covering a wider and more practical field. In particular, we should be glad to publish more papers of chemical interest.
Priority in publication may be given to papers of outstanding merit.
