I read an article about a woman who claimed to see auras surrounding people. The idea fascinated me, so I made it my own and decided to have my medieval heroine Kallen possess this special talent. I did quite a bit of research of what different colors can mean and included that information as Kallen describes what she sees to Griffith.
I also have a Halloween birthday (Yes, it was a blast growing up having such a cool birthday!), so writing a chapter about English customs of this era that surrounded All Hallow's Eve was a fun piece to include in this medieval historical romance.
