## Abstract It was established that chlorine reacts with both water and hydroxyl ions. At a short reaction time when the pH was less than 3 the reversible reaction of chlorine and water controlled the absorption rate. From pH 3 to 10.5 the forward reaction predominated and yielded an apparent first

β¦ Synopsis
The kinetics of the chlorination of various tertiary alcoholamines by hypochlorite have been studied in alkaline media. A reaction mechanism consistent with the experimental results is put forward, and a relationship is established between the rate constants and the polar parameter (%*) of the substituents.

## Abstract The kinetics of the hydrolysis of fenuron in sodium hydroxide has been investigated spectrometrically in an aqueous medium and in cationic micelles of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) medium. The reaction follows firstβorder kinetics with respect to [fenuron] in both the aqueous an
The kinetics of the reaction between nitric oxide and chlorine have been investigated in both carbon tetrachloride and glacial acetic acid. The nitric oxide-oxygen reaction has been investigated in carbon tetrachloride. The appearance of product, NOCl or NO,, was monitored spectrophotometrically a
The kinetics of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) oxidation by peroxomonophosphoric acid (PMPA) in aqueous medium a t 308 K and I = 0.4 mol/dm3 follow the rate expressions In the pH range from 0 to 2, where k l and kz are 5.092 X 10-1 dm3/mol sec and = 0, respectively; in the pH range from 4 to 7, where k2
Oxidations of indigocarmine (IC) by chloramine-T (CAT) and aqueous chlorine (HOC1) in acidic buffer media, pH 2-6, have been kinetically studied at 30Β°C using spectrophotometry. The CAT reaction rate shows a first-order dependence on [IClo and an inverse fractional order on [p-toluenesulfonamidel. T
## Abstract A kinetic study of oxidation of metronidazole (Met) with sodium __N__βbromoβ__p__βtoluenesulfonamide or bromamineβT (BAT) has been carried out in HClO~4~ (30Β°C) and NaOH (40Β°C) media. The experimental rate laws obtained are βd[BAT]/d__t__=__k__[BAT][Met]^__x__^ [H^+^]^__y__^ in acid med
