β¦ Synopsis
A mathematical model and ds numerical solution IS presented to descnbe adiabatic adsorption-desorptlon processes m a fixed bed when the mass and heat transfer can be described by external film transfer coeficlents only, wluch 1s especially mterestmg m the case of non-umform. uregular parWes A new method to measure such rates IS presented, based on contmuous welghmg of a throughcnculated bed The measured rates can be checked agamst the ddference m humldrty and temperature between the outlet and inlet au m order to minimize errors
The comparison between expenmental results and calculations showed that the adsorption process m a bed of molecular sieve pellets can not be descnbd with a constant mass transfer coefficient, the desorptlon process IS better described although not entmzly satlsfactonly
In the case of a honeycomb molecular sieve, a constant mass transfer coefficient described both the adsorption and desorptlon processes satisfactorily

## Abstract **BACKGROUND:** Pb(II) is common in both wasteβwaters and gas emissions. In developing countries, public health problems have been reported concerning Pb(II) pollution, so that stringent measures are required to deal with it. **MAJOR RESULTS:** The adsorption and desorption behaviour o
