The implementation of a hybrid-mixed formulation for Reissner±Mindlin stress elements is presented. The stressresultants and the mid-surface displacements in the domain of the element and the displacements on its boundary are simultaneously and independently approximated using Legendre polynomials.

A valuable variational approach for plate problems based on the Reissner-Mindlin theory is presented. The new MiSP (Mixed Shear Projected) approach is based on the Hellinger-Reissner variational principle, with a particular representation of transversal shear forces and transversal shear strains. Th
An analysis of a triangular mixed finite element method, proposed by Taylor and Auricchio (cf. [ 131) is presented. The method is based on a linked interpolation between deflections and rotations in order to avoid the locking phenomenon (cf. [ 151). The analysis shows that the approximated deflectio
