✦ Synopsis
In this article we present a highly efficient, one-dimen-( ) sional finite-difference᎐time-domain 1D FDTD algorithm, based on the concept of trans¨erse resonance and symmetry of the electromagnetic fields of the structures, for analyzing axisymmetric cylindrical wa¨eguides. The algorithm is ¨alidated by showing that the FDTD results are in excellent agreement with the closed-form solutions for computing the propagation characteristics of circular and coaxial wa¨eguides. ᮊ 1997
