✦ Synopsis
A ÿnite element methodology for obtaining non-oscillatory and non-di usive solutions to convection problems is proposed. The presented technique can be traced back to the concept of ux-corrected transport, but it di ers from the existing FEM-FCT methods in that the high-order solution is corrected pointwise. This simpliÿes implementation and provides a greater freedom in the choice of high and low-order methods. Mass conservation is enforced by post-processing. Numerical examples in one and two dimensions conÿrm the accuracy properties of the new algorithm.
