✦ Synopsis
In studying competitive interaction characterized by Volterra's equations of growth (e.g., between two species in a closed society), a major concern is with the ultimate outcome of the competition (i.e., after a long time has lapsed from the initial point). This paper advances a procedure for expediently determining this ultimate (long-time) outcome. The basic theory is developed concisely by use of certain isoclines, and application of it in practice is illustrated with a detailed numerical example.
