This paper presents a new graph notation to clarcyy the kinematic structure of simple and compound differential Qear trains e$ciently. This graph notation is then used to device the kinematic equations of' d@erential gear trains. The absolute rotational speeds ,ftir simple and compound difSerentia1 spur, helical-and bevel-gear trains can easily be determined without the need to develop any intermediate equations. The equation can be applied to anJ type qf d@rential gear train with any number of' links by only knowing the gear ratios qj all mating gears.
