An old man, on his death bed, reflects on his life and how far he has come from arriving in London from Scotland, a penniless boy of fourteen and becoming one of the wealthiest men in England.
Angus Mackensie flees Scotland and his tyrant of a father and arrives in London cold and hungry. When he finds work in a tailor shop, little does he realise how the kindly owner and his wife will change his life.
