✦ Synopsis

This paper presents a general method for calculating the fugacity coefficient with a view to representing phase equilibria of fluids on the basis of cubic equations of state with two, three or four parameters. The basic formalism selected in this study is that of Schmidt and Wenzel.

## Abstract Calculation of phase and chemical equilibria is of fundamental importance for the design and simulation of chemical processes. Methods of minimizing the Gibbs free energy provide equilibrium solutions that are candidates only for the true equilibrium solution, because the number and typ
