Abstract
In the approach to the developement of a practical procedure for the evaluation of band broadening properties of gas capillary columns, the expression for the variance of a solute band is cast in a dimensionless form. This expression supplies the basis for a valid bench mark for column evaluation. Experimental results demonstrate the applicability of the method.
