This note describes the construction of a nitrogen gas flow cryostat which was designed to perform measurements of transport properties, such as, electrical resistivity and thermal conductivity, and of equilibrium properties, such as, magnetic susceptibility and electrical permitivity, in the range

โฆ Synopsis
Whereas the observed pressure oscillations at the warm end were normally sinusoidal, in these very vigorous oscillations in the U-tube we observed deviations from the sinusoidal shape. The rise of the pressure was steeper than the following fall. The effect apparently became stronger with decreasing average pressure P0. If we denote the time distances between two extrema of the pressure-time curve as a and b (Fig. ), we measured ratios ofb/a up to 1.5. This value was measured at a total pressure of p0 = 27 torr (1 torr = 133 N m "2) with pressure amplitudes ofp A = 9 torr.
We are not yet sure whether this effect has its origin in our pressure measuring system or whether it is a real property of the oscillations.

A new method is proposed for determining ion mobility by use of a RF-only quadrupole equipped with a longitudinal electrical field along its axis (RFQLEF). This method is based on measuring the transmission threshold for the ions of interest as a function of the RF voltage and frequency. The method
