✦ Synopsis

Methods for modeling and managing uncertainty in computer vision systems have received increased attention in recent years. Automatic target recognition is one application area of computer vision where the demands are particularly acute. In this article, fuzzy logic is proposed as a means of handling uncertainty in an expert system structure for automatic target recognition. A new technique for logical inference is described which is well-suited for this type of application. A prototype system has been developed and tested on multisensor and temporal images. The results are compared to a similar expert system which used a numeric uncertainty calculus.

## Abstract In this study, the fuzzy logic (FL)‐based automatic gain controller (AGC) is designed to obtain a fixed gain level of erbium‐doped fiber amplifiers along C band based on experimental results. A FL‐AGC with two inputs and one output is considered where the inputs are signal power and sig

Experience-based reasoning ~EBR! is a reasoning paradigm that has been used in almost every human activity such as business, military missions, and teaching activities since early human history. However, EBR has not been seriously studied from either a logical or mathematical viewpoint, although cas
