✦ Synopsis

In this work, a fuzzy hybrid approach FHA for the synthesis of rectangular microstrip antenna elements with thick substrates ( ) is presented. The FHA is based on a fuzzy genetic algorithm FGA and a controlled random search algorithm. The results obtained from the FHA are compared with the results obtained from the different types of genetic algorithm. The FHA gi¨es a better design than the others. ᮊ 2000

Simple techniques ha¨e been de¨eloped for e¨aluating mutual coupling coefficients between two identical probe-fed rectangular antenna elements with thick substrates. They are based on the ¨olume equi¨alence theorem and a theoretical model equi¨alent to a lossy transmission line, and they take into a

Formulas based on the two-slot, the ca¨ity, and the surface current models to compute the far-field radiation patterns in both the E and H planes for rectangular microstrip antenna elements are studied and their ¨alidity assessed. Three closed-form formulas are presented for the calculation of the r
