โฆ Synopsis
A detailed experimental investigation into the effect of the depth of the perforated plate in the Zanker flow conditioner on the performance of the device has been conducted
focusing on the flow quality, in terms of time mean velocity and axial turbulence intensity profiles, generated by the device. Improved performance is demonstrated for deeper plates to the extent that when the plate is deep the honeycomb section can be eliminated.
For deep plates it is demonstrated that further improvement in performance can be achieved by placing the honeycomb upstream of the plate whilst for thin plates this approach is not effective.

## Abstract ## Background Reduced blood flow has been hypothesized to be a major factor in the formation of postradiation fibrosis. This study examined Doppler ultrasonography as a technique to detect changes in blood flow into the tongue during selected lingual gestures, /t/ and /k/. ## Methods
