β¦ Synopsis
The purpose of this paper is to provide a method of characterizing the resistance of various adhesives and surface preparations to cathodic delamination using a fracture mechanics approach. The approach is quite similar to that taken in the stress corrosion cracking of metals although no direct accounting is made of the diffusion processes that are involved. The main emphasis is on the large deformation analysis, including the nonlinear material behavior of the rubber, that is required for determining fracture parameters for correlation with debond growth rates.
