## Abstract A low‐profile equilateral‐triangular dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) of very high permittivity (ε~r~ = 82) is excited with the use of a rectangular waveguide. It is found that the present configuration has a very wide impedance bandwidth of 11.4%, which is 3.8 times of that of the pr

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
A rectangular ceramic dielectric resonator loaded into a folded thin‐wire monopole antenna in a horizontal finite ground plane is presented. While in a suitable adjustment, the impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 67% (2.15–4.30 GHz). Moreover, the electric dipole pattern is kept in such antenna configuration. Additionally, antenna gain is about 2–4 dBi in the operating frequencies. The antenna configuration and performance is very suitable to apply in the wide‐band territorial communications. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
