Abstract
A flexible continuous optical beamformer with time delay for a phased‐array antenna is proposed and demonstrated. It is constructed using a novel tunable chirped fiber grating achieved by bending a uniform grating, and a multi‐wavelength fiber laser based on a novel Sagnac interferemetric filter that consists of a polarization‐maintaining directional coupler and polarization‐maintaining fibers. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
