โฆ Synopsis
A finite element analysis is presented to calculate the steady-state velocity fields in a cohesionless granular solid discharging from a planar flat-bottomed silo. The work expands and generalises the Tuzun and Nedderman (1979) theory to treat a wide range of geometries, material properties and boundary conditions. The approach is kinematic and gravity-based, solving for the velocity field and assuming complete stress independence.
