✦ Synopsis

Over the past few years, interest has been growing among the various European organisations and scientific societies concerned with biomedical research in facilitating communication between scientists from the various countries and regions of Europe. With this aim in mind, and recognizing the importance of national identities, the idea of establishing a supranational European Union of Societies of Experimental Biology, of which Physiology would be one important element, was developed to overcome segregatory structures and developments.
