Darcee Ashton, as so known as Lady Ashton, is given her first Season at the age of eighteen and has the pleasure of meeting her older brothers long time friend and Captain again after 8 years and passionate sparks start to fly.

Injured and scarred from the war in 1803 he has taken three years to recover from his scars, however upon meeting the girl he once knew as Little Darcee, has now turned into the tempting Lady Darcee he can't help himself. He wants her but disappears , because he knows he can not have her.

Her brother who had gambled and drank away all the money left to him upon the death of their father begs Darcee to give him the money, but when she refuses he comes up with another plan, one she agrees to only because of her lover for him. Marry rich and well and supply him with money to pay off his debts.

But they have a falling out and she only has one person she will flee too? A short romance, a symbol much like Beauty and the Beast, but in this case more like the Lion and the Mouse.
