✦ Synopsis
The mechanism of rotational energy transfer in energetic (E 5 1 eV) NO/Ag(J 11) collisions is investigated in quantai ri@d-rotor/staticsurface calcuJations. Reasonable agreement with recent experimental results is obtained for the case of a strongly asymmetric interaction potential which leads to two well-separated rotational rainbows at low and at high Er,,t, respectively.
