In the discussed paper,~)the ~ author describes and interprets effects induced by the presence of some admixtures on the hydration o£ a portland cement. Additional information is certainly needed to clari~y mechanisms of cement-admixture interactions. However, we consider the interpretations and conclusions drawn by the author as exaggerated and, in some instances, incorrect.

The following comments outline our major objections to the interpretation of results and conclusions o£ the paper.
