✦ Synopsis
Drs Kobayashi and Uno have obtained some very useful results in showing, through accelerated carbonation and exposure tests, that the rate of carbonation of concrete is higher, the greater the alkali content of the cement (1). Such results should not be considered as surprising when the reaction mechanisms of hydration and carbonation are addressed.
