β¦ Synopsis
_The objective of this paper is to present an automated direct procedure to solve the problems of two bodies in elastic frictionless thermal contact. The proposed scheme of solution determines incremently the equilibrium configuration of the system by solving uncoupled thermo-elastic stationary problem for each increment of thermal loads. The contact area is unknown a priori and the increment of load is calculated in such a way to yield just one additional contact pair. Conventional thermal boundary conditions are adopted throughout the contact interface. Results of two examples of different nature are presented for illustration. * Professor, on leave to Kuwait University. t Graduate student.
