Abstract
A novel, cheap and simple technique for the analysis of the mixing properties from a stirred vessel is introduced. The technique is based on a digital imaging technique and the analysis can be undertaken based on the properties of the image. Using this technique, it is easy to analyze mixing inhomogeneities. Test measurements with nonβNewtonian viscous, aqueous xanthan solutions and fluids as well as liquidβparticle suspensions showed that the developed method is a quick and quantitative tool for the analysis of local mixing inhomogeneities, mixing times and particle suspension speeds.
