✦ Synopsis

A new feature extraction technique for digital curves is devised and used in the proposed digital curve recognition method. The feature proposed in this paper is based on the concept of the self-distance function of a digital curve and can also be applied to non-singly connected curves. By measuring the differences between self-distance functions, figures that are invariant in position, scale, and rotation can be recognized. In addition, the results of tests are presented.
