✦ Synopsis

Recent interest in the Ramsey phase-transition hypothesis is examined and dicussed with reference to the ideas of plate tectonics. Modern data on the densities and likely central pressures of the terrestrial planets combined with the occurence of planetary magnetism in the Moon and Mercury are shown to conflict with the Ramsey phase-transition hypothesis.
