It is shown that the RITZ variation method can be interpreted as a method of calculating the eigenfunctions of the operator% where 9 is the projection operator projecting the function space spanned by a complete set of basis functions into the subspace given by the functions chosen for the linear combina-tion_ F,rom this one can cieduce the 6 2-criterion for the wave functions. Furthermore. the cnecm-62 and 6-(f) variation methods are tested on the H-atom.

The variations in several thermal and mechanical properties were examined for a large cylinder of CFZ graphite and several small cylinders of ATJ graphite. These property variations were correlated with bulk density, location in the ingot, orientation and in some cases, flaw occurrence as observed b
