✦ Synopsis
The requirements for an ideal black box solver for PDEs and the realistic compromise for the FIDISOL program package are discussed. The solution method of FIDISOL by a variable order/variable step size finite difference method is presented and the interaction between user and FIDISOL by the user interface is discussed. An experimental expert system shell KESS is presented and the ideas for an expert system "FIDISOL user" are outlined.
