✦ Synopsis
A crlterlon of lsothermahty 1s derived for the inner core of a catalyst pellet deactivated by poremouth porsonmg usmg the pseudo steady-state shell-progressive model If the crlterlon ts met, the core of the deactivated catalyst IS at least as Isothermal as the fresh catalyst Knowledge of actlvlty factor, mass Blot number and the reactlon boundary is required for the use of the criterion Actlvlty factor can be determmed from the measurements of external temperature difference For the determination of the reaction boundary, an alternate expresslon is derived for the activity factor for the case of reaction dominated by dlfiuslonal resistance Determmation of the reaction boundary requires knowledge of an observable, the Blot numbers and measurements of external temperature difference Results are apphed to some hterature data
