Abstract
This article formulates an additive Cousin type problem for systems of partial differential equations. The obstruction to the solution of this problem, like the obstruction in the classical Cousin problem, lies in a first cohomology module, viz. in an Ext^1^ module associated to the problem. Let K represent either the real or the complex numbers. Let P k , k=1, 2, ..., r be constant coefficient (with coefficients from K) polynomials in n variables and let r] be the set of all polynomial solutions (of degree M) to this system of partial differential equations. We solve the problem of fi
We introduce a renormalization procedure for the Ο -function of integrable systems. We illustrate the procedure using the supercritical Toda shock problem as a model problem. We start with a finite chain and take the limit of the solution as the number of particles N β β. This results in a new formu
The optimal control of a class of linear deterministic time-invariant multi-dimensional distributed systems is considered. The unconstrained optimal control problem is formulated as a quadratic minimisation in a real Hilbert space. A conjugate gradient minimisation technique is employed in its solut
