✦ Synopsis

Work done in this laboratory has indicated that several types of lipoxygenase are present in plant tissues (1). A quick method was needed to classify the various types of this enzyme. We found cellulose acetate gel electrophoresis very suitable and were able to determine the activity directly on the strip, the test for activity being much more sensitive than the test for protein. EXPERIMENTAL
