The short half-life of midazolam allowed the child to be completely awake within a four-hour period after stopping the infusion. The authors conclude that midazolam is a safe and effective drug for the treatment of status epilepticus with a quicker onset of action and shorter duration of action than other drugs used to treat this problem.
