✦ Synopsis
A detailed analysis of the contours of records obtained by noninvasive or indirect technics has been difficult in the past due to the lack of a quantitative approach. Consequently, most of the studies of the carotid pulse have been concerned with time intervals (l-3); only general statements have been made regarding changes in configuration associated with disease abnormalities. Computer technics now available offer means by which contours can be objectively evaluated. The present study presents one approach to the analysis of curves obtained from normal subjects, patients with aortic valvular disease. and patients with hypertrophic subaortic stenosis.
