✦ Synopsis

A consistent treatment of elastic and inelastic processes in the microscopic theory of nucleonnucleus scattering is presented. It is pointed out that the transition potential used in the conventional "microscopic DWA" calculation must be supplemented by an additional density-dependent term. Elastic and inelastic proton scatterings on I60 at E, = 135 MeV are analysed as an example. The effect of the additional term is shown to be as important as the difference between the g-matrix and t-matrix.
