In this paper, we have shown how a CP signal can be used in conjunction with a modified circular-patch antenna in order to produce Serroydyne action. The approach described here has the following advantages: the same antenna can be used for both the transmit and receive functions, and the rotating transponder device is passive, has low profile, and can be made very small for operation at higher frequencies.
