SPARC (Secreted Protein, Acidic, Rich in Cysteine) is a highly conserved, calcium-binding, extracellular matrix protein. To investigate its role in early embryogenesis, we examined its tissue distribution in early Xenopus embryos. SPARC mRNA transcripts were detectable by Northern blot analysis begi
